Less than truckload (LTL) is a mode of road freight where a shipment shares a vehicle with other shippers' cargo, because it does not fill the vehicle's volume or weight capacity on its own.
LTL is generally more cost-effective for smaller shipments than booking a full vehicle, though it can add time for consolidation and, depending on the route, an extra stop. Pricing is usually based on loading metres and chargeable weight rather than physical weight alone, since floor space is often the real constraint.
