Chargeable Weight

Chargeable Weight
Chargeable weight is the weight a carrier actually bills for a shipment: whichever is higher between the shipment's actual weight and its volumetric (dimensional) weight, since bulky, light cargo can take up more vehicle space than a compact, heavy one of the same weight.

On road freight, chargeable weight is closely tied to loading metres for less than truckload (LTL) shipments, where floor space is often the real constraint rather than kilograms. Use the LDM calculator to estimate the loading metres and chargeable weight for a specific shipment before requesting a quote.
