# Customs Declaration

A customs declaration is the official form filed with customs authorities that describes the goods in a shipment, their value, tariff classification (HS code) and other details customs needs to clear an export or import.

Filing the export declaration is the shipper's responsibility, usually handled by their [customs broker](/en/insights/customs-broker), not the carrier's. Dealti coordinates the transit document (a [TIR Carnet](/en/insights/tir-carnet) or [T1](/en/insights/t1-transit-declaration)), the CMR and border crossing around the declaration the shipper or their broker files.
